Our planned giving program provides a number of ways for you to include 10,000 Degrees in your estate planning. Beyond realizing tax benefits, you will provide a chance at college for future generations of students in our community.
Bequest in your will
Remembering 10,000 Degrees through a charitable bequest reduces the amount of your estate that is subject to estate tax.
Charitable Remainder Trust
When you create a charitable remainder trust, you guarantee a gift to 10,000 Degrees in the future. In return, you receive an annual income from the assets you use to fund the trust and an immediate tax deduction.
Charitable Lead Trust
When you create a charitable lead trust, 10,000 Degrees receives the income from the trust assets for a period of time, and the remainder goes to your heirs.
The Marjorie Mooney Society
Named after a generous donor and San Rafael resident, the Marjorie Mooney Society is a group of supporters who have committed to making a gift that will leave a lasting legacy of opportunity and hope to Marin students and their families. Some have named 10,000 Degrees (formerly Marin Education Fund) in their wills, while others have designated the organization as a beneficiary of their life insurance policies or set up charitable remainder trusts that can also provide income for themselves and their spouses. No matter how you choose to give, a legacy gift helps ensure 10,000 Degrees’ long-term sustainability while ensuring that your values live on through the students you help to succeed.
We encourage you to help grow the Marjorie Mooney Society. If you have mentioned or would like to mention 10,000 Degrees in your will or as a beneficiary of a planned giving vehicle, please contact our Chief Development Office, at 415-451-4010.
