College Academy

Thirty-five rising freshmen completed our 2010 College Academy summer intensive, focusing on English Language Arts and Math. They also toured the UC Berkeley Campus.
In our current climate of financial cuts to higher education and increased competitiveness for college admission, it is imperative that students begin to plan for college at an increasingly younger age. The College Academy seeks to do this work by helping students prepare for college upon entrance to high school. In this exciting four-week summer program, students develop their academic and leadership skills, learn about health and wellness, and how to prepare for college. After successful completion of the College Academy, students will meet regularly after school as a cohort, receive individualized academic support and may be linked to other support services as needed throughout the four years of high school.
