Undergraduate Scholarships

10,000 Degrees administers over twenty scholarships to assist students with significant financial need with the cost of college.  Students submit one application to be considered for most of the scholarships we administer.

Eligibility:

  • Student must be planning to enroll in an undergraduate program leading to an associate’s degree, bachelor’s degree, or teaching credential in the 2012-2013 academic year. The only exception is for students interested in working with children ages 0-5 (prior to kindergarten). We administer one scholarship that funds graduate-level work for those students.
  • Student must be planning to enroll at a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Students must be planning to enroll for at least one semester or two quarters of the 2012-2013 academic year
  • Students must be planning to enroll in a minimum of 12 units per semester or term during the 2012-2013 academic year.

Application Deadline:

The application is due at 11:59 pm on March 2, 2012. All applications must be submitted online, and no late submissions will be accepted. As each scholarship may require additional documents, please read all directions carefully to ensure that you submit everything required. All materials must be attached to the online application or postmarked by March 2, 2012.

Betty Times Education Scholarship

Purpose: Assist students who are African American/Black with postsecondary education.

Eligibility criteria: Students under the age of 25. Minimum 2.0 G.P.A.
Award: Up to $2,000

Purpose and Eligibility: To provide financial assistance to undergraduate studies.

Award: $2,500 (renewable annually)

Kai Chong Tong Scholarship

Purpose and Eligibility: Provide financial assistance to Chinese American students who are pursuing their undergraduate education at San Francisco State University. Must be a San Francisco State University student of Chinese American descent.

Award: Up to $1,000

North Bay Council/Roger Grossman Scholarship for Community Service

Purpose and Eligibility: To assist community service-minded students pursuing postsecondary education or training for a business-related degree. Must be a Marin or Sonoma county high school senior interested in a business-related degree who have a demonstrated financial need.

Award: $1,500 - $2,500

The New Leader Scholarship

Award: Up to $8,000
Purpose and Eligibility:

  • Enrollment in one of the following Bay Area public universities: California State University, East Bay Campus; San Francisco State University; San Jose State University; Sonoma State University; or University of California at Berkeley
  • Upper division student who has attended the school for one academic year or more, with 60 units or more, 24 of which were attained at the present university.
  • Studying the social sciences, human services, public interest law, health-related fields, or public service
  • A minimum 3.5 GPA either at the current school or at a combination of the current school plus all schools previously attended. Consideration will be given to students with a GPA of 3.2 - 3.49.
  • Must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 units each in the Fall 2012 and Spring 2013 semester.
