Academic Support

10,000 Degrees Academic Support matches volunteer tutors with students from low-income backgrounds in Marin County public schools.

Established in 1997 as Marin County School Volunteers, the organization began with 40 volunteers in five Marin County public schools. 10,000 Degrees Academic Support now has 300+ volunteers serving 5,000+ students in 26 Marin County schools providing academic tutoring, classroom support, and homework assistance.

We are grateful for our dedicated volunteers and partnering schools. We appreciate all you do to bring the 10,000 Degrees Academic Support program to our Marin County students!

Thank you to these Academic Support Volunteers who devoted their time to 10,000 Degrees students during the 2018-19 school year!

Become a Volunteer

We match volunteer tutors with public school students in on-campus academic programs during the school day and after school. We provide orientations and trainings to assist new volunteers and ongoing workshops for experienced tutors.

Note: High school volunteers must be in 11th or 12th grade and are used only in certain on-campus, afterschool programs.

Teacher Requests

We place volunteer tutors primarily in 4 Marin County public school districts – Novato, Sausalito Marin City, San Rafael and Shoreline. We specifically support students who come from low-income backgrounds, including English Language Learners. If students in your classroom meet these criteria, make your request using our online form. Please be specific so we can best support your needs!
