10,000 Degrees offers scholarships for graduate students pursuing Master’s Degrees in law, medicine, nursing, journalism, pursuing a teaching credential, and more. Eligibility requirements vary. We award scholarships primarily to students from low-income backgrounds in the regions we serve in the Bay Area, California and Utah.
Law School Scholarship
The Marin County Bar Association Legal Education Scholarship, administered by 10,000 Degrees, provides a one-time award of up to $5,000 for law school students. The scholarship was established in 2011 by members of the Marin County Bar Association (MCBA) to support student scholarships for law school and inspire future leaders in the legal community who have an interest in giving back to their local community.

Health Careers Scholarship of Sonoma County
The Health Careers Scholarship of Sonoma County, administered by 10,000 Degrees, was established in 2001 to support students pursuing a career in medicine, nursing, or other allied health fields. This scholarship is open to undergraduate, graduate, and professional degree students.

Teaching Credential Scholarships
10,000 Degrees administers two scholarships for students pursuing a teaching credential:
The Marin Retired Teachers Association Scholarship was established by Marin County retired teachers to assist Marin County High School graduates pursuing Fifth-Year Teaching Credentials (or Master’s degrees in Education).
Eligibility requirements:
The Building Better Teachers Scholarship supports early care and education (ECE) teachers continuing their college coursework in early development and education to earn a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.

Journalism Scholarship
The Richard T. Torkelson Memorial Scholarship Fund for Journalism, administered by 10,000 Degrees, was established in 1991 in memory of Richard T. Torkelson, a Press Democrat reporter. This scholarship is open to undergraduate and graduate students studying journalism, communications, photojournalism, documentary art, and non-fiction digital media.
