Director of College Access, San Francisco & South Bay


The focus of the Director of College Access, San Francisco and South Bay is to ensure delivery of high quality college & career access programming to high school students in San Francisco and the South Bay. In addition, this position will be responsible for fostering school and community partnerships to ensure close collaboration between key stakeholders to advance our mission. This position will directly supervise 2 program managers with room to grow to 5 managers. While based in San Francisco and the South Bay, the Director will also need to commute to other Bay Area regions for meetings and events.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise and support program managers, ensuring high quality staff support and professional development for their teams including weekly 1:1s, monthly managers meetings and monthly all team meetings, and coordinating and/or directly supporting teams in a managers absence.
  • Frequent with other directors to ensure consistency of programming and procedures across all regions and programs which is essential to ensuring that all of our high school students receive the highest quality of service
  • Continue data-informed program development, implementation, and evaluation of the access programs.
  • Ensure program & scholarship process alignment across all regions and schools
  • Represent 10,000 Degrees at school and community meetings and other related events
  • Facilitate quarterly or annual meetings and navigate relationships with key partners within all regions
  • Help inform short- and long-term strategic goal-setting for programming
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align regional strategies and opportunities with broader organizational goals and related initiatives
  • Help to identify themes, challenges and opportunities facing our students to inform 10,000 Degrees advocacy and policy work
  • Collaborate with other Directors of College Access and the Virtual Content Manager to create content, schedule and deliver virtual programming for high school students
  • Create, maintain and oversee annual budgets for your teams
  • Oversee and maintain HR administration for managers and fellows
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will be a strong leader who is committed to supporting equitable educational opportunities for all students.  A goal-oriented focus is essential, with in-depth knowledge of the college landscape and student advising and support needs, as well as the needs of recent college graduates.  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and impeccable judgment are required.  In addition, the ability to work cohesively and collaboratively with other team members will be critical.

Specific qualifications include:

  • BA/BS required
  • 3+ years of related experience required (college access and success, higher education)
  • 3+ years management experience
  • Excellent internal and external communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience with Salesforce strongly preferred
  • An unrelenting commitment to social justice
  • Proven ability to work with diverse populations
  • Excellent presentation skills including oral and written communication
  • Ability to think strategically with an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Self-starter who can multitask in a fluid work environment
