Director of College Pathways, Sonoma & Napa


The focus of the Director of College Pathways, Sonoma & Napa is to maintain high quality financial aid and college access support and career pathways exploration to high school students based in Sonoma and Napa counties. Building and cultivating school and community based program partnerships will be critical as we seek to support students from low-income households to successfully access, enroll and complete postsecondary educational opportunities. This position will directly supervise the College Access Managers in Sonoma, and Napa. This position is based in Sonoma and Napa but will need to commute to other Bay Area regions for meetings and events.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise and support Sonoma and Napa Program Managers, and ensure staff support and professional development for teams including weekly 1:1s, monthly manager meetings, and all-team monthly meetings
  • Coordinate support or directly support teams during a manager’s absence
  • Identify, develop and implement partnerships and programming with organizations and programs supporting students to access all postsecondary pathways. Key partners include the Career Technical Education (CTE) Foundation, workforce alliance and work based learning programs on campus
  • Collaborate with the CTE Foundation Sonoma County to create innovative opportunities to expose students to the variety of postsecondary pathways that align with student career interest and provide accessible information regarding financial aid and matriculation
  • Continue data-informed program development, implementation, and evaluation of programs
  • Ensure program, financial aid, and scholarship process alignment across all regions
  • Represent 10,000 Degrees at district, school, and community events
  • Facilitate and navigate partnerships within the regions to ensure alignment and high quality support for students
  • Frequent collaboration with other directors to ensure high quality programming and organizational alignment
  • Help inform short- and long-term strategic goal-setting for college access programs in Sonoma and Napa
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align regional strategies and opportunities with broader organizational goals and related initiatives
  • Help to identify themes, challenges and opportunities facing our students to inform 10,000 Degrees advocacy and policy work
  • Collaborate with other Directors of College Access and the Virtual Content Manager to create content, schedule and deliver virtual programming for high school students
  • Create and maintain annual budgets for Sonoma & Napa regions
  • Oversee and maintain HR administration for Sonoma & Napa managers and fellows

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will be a strong leader who is committed to supporting equitable educational opportunities for all students. A goal-oriented focus is essential, with in-depth knowledge of the college access landscape and student advising and support needs, as well as the needs of families and students. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and impeccable judgment are required. In addition, the ability to work cohesively and collaboratively with other team members will be critical.

Specific qualifications include:

  • BA/BS required
  • 3+ years of related experience in financial aid and college matriculation steps
  • 3+ years of previous management experience
  • Excellent internal and external communication and collaboration skills
  • An unrelenting commitment to social justice
  • Proven ability to work with diverse populations
  • Excellent presentation skills including oral and written communication
  • Ability to think strategically with an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Self-starter who can multitask in a fluid work environment
  • Familiarity with Sonoma and/or Napa County preferred
  • Experience with Salesforce preferred
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred
