The Opportunity

The IT Manager is an integral part of the 10,000 Degrees mission to support students from low-income backgrounds to and through college to positively impact their communities and the world. At 10,000 Degrees we believe that education is the foundation of a just and equitable society. Students and their families as well as schools and local leaders each play a critical role in educating the next generation and strengthening the economic vitality and social health of our communities. The students we serve are 100% from low-income communities; 89% black, Indigenous, Latinx, Asian Pacific Islander, and People of color; and 85% first generation students.

The IT Manager will oversee the IT functions of the organization, including policies, strategy, and day-to-day management of computer systems and IT solutions. The ideal candidate will have experience with a variety of services, software and hardware, and will be proactive in finding and proposing solutions. It is important in this position to be able to problem-solve and diagnose issues.


  • Develop, implement, and maintain IT policies
  • Day-to-day Helpdesk Services
  • Ongoing staff training on existing and new systems
  • Develop, implement and maintain cyber security policy and system
  • Vetting and on-going monitoring of vendor security policies and implementation thereof
  • Assist in development of IT budget, including schedule of equipment replacement
  • Proactively monitor and administer the network, workstation operating systems, security system, safety, backups and servers, and propose adjustments as needed
  • Regular risk assessments
  • Onboard/offboard employees from IT systems
  • Maintain inventory of company devices & applications


  • Commitment to 10,000 Degrees’ mission, values, and goals
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Sciences, Management Information Systems, or Information Technology, or equivalent experience and certifications
  • At least 5 years’ experience with progressively higher responsibilities

This position will be hybrid. 10,000 Degrees’ main office is located in San Rafael. Satellite offices are located in several counties in Northern California. While most on-site work will be done from the main office, occasional travel to other sites may be required.

Compensation Package

  • The starting salary for this position is $95,000 – $105,000 annually
  • This is a full-time, exempt position
