Program Manager, San Jose

Postion Summary

The Program Manager is an integral part of the 10,000 Degrees mission to support college graduates who change the world, establishing our program in the San Jose/Peninsula market, serving as the point person for all communication with local school and district personnel, local CBO’s, donors, and the 10,000 Degrees executive team. This position is responsible for maintaining quality service delivery of all programming to students and taking lead on establishing measures for assessing program effectiveness. Additionally, the Program Manager directly supervises one full-time 10,000 Degrees Fellow who conducts the direct student-facing work, with the potential to supervise additional fellows as the organization expands to new school sites.

Responsibilities

  • Lead initial introduction/integration meetings for 10,000 Degrees at selected and prospective high school and community college sites and with local community-based organizations
  • Maintain excellent relationships with school personnel, community partners, and program participants, as well as families via meetings, workshops, and social media
  • Participate in weekly supervision meetings with larger staff team
  • Facilitate weekly supervision meetings with Fellow
  • Attend regular training seminars
  • Conduct initial onboarding training for Fellow and conduct college-related training throughout the year
  • Attend advisory board meetings, corporate engagement meetings, government related events, and other fundraising events including foundation focused functions
  • Lead initial planning, calendaring, and execution of in-school focused workshops during and after school in collaboration w/ Fellow
  • Lead student recruitment strategy for the region and meet target recruitment goals
  • Support Fellow in reaching their caseload & matriculation/retention goals throughout the year
  • Maintain up-to-date, accurate files and data; generate program reports for analysis
  • In collaboration w/Program Director of New Markets & Communications department, create & launch ongoing community college success related campaigns via technology, flyers and other means
  • Recruit, hire, train, facilitate, and supervise community college ambassador(s)
  • Travel within assigned regions
  • Lead and participate in student summer related programming for students and families in collaboration w/ Fellow
  • Support 10,000 Degrees Development team at fundraising events
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Commitment to 10,000 Degrees’ mission, values, and goals
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • First-generation college graduates from low-income backgrounds preferred
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred
  • High level of professionalism: promptness, preparedness, professional appearance
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Google applications; SalesForce background a plus
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm and initiative and the ability to work independently
  • Willing to learn and be self-reflective
  • History of working effectively as part of a team
  • Strong knowledge & expertise in college access & success matriculation steps (financial aid, college applications, etc.)

We offer a salary of $65,000 with excellent benefits including health, dental, vision, life/disability, 401(k), 15 days paid vacation, paid holidays, sick leave plus professional development such as conferences, seminars, webinars and training included.
