19 Jun MCSV Joins 10,000 Degrees
The Marin County Schools Volunteers (MCSV) will merge with 10,000 Degrees, the San Francisco North Bay’s leading college success nonprofit, effective July 1, 2017. MCSV will continue its efforts as an integral part of 10,000 Degrees overall programing.
“As a valued component of 10,000 Degrees,” says MCSV Executive Director, Pam Franklin, “we eagerly look forward to the next 20 years helping students in Marin County achieve their academic goals.”
In conjunction with training that addresses the specifics of effective tutoring as well as the unique challenges students face living in poverty or learning a second language, MCSV pairs volunteer tutors with targeted students in Marin County public schools.
“Our mission, vision, and values are perfectly aligned,” says 10,000 Degrees President and CEO, Kim Mazzuca. “Both organizations believe each and every student deserves the opportunity to fulfill their dreams and positively impact their communities.”
10,000 Degrees combines personal support, academic counseling, and financial aid management to help students from low-income backgrounds get to and through college. Headquartered in San Rafael, 10,000 Degrees supports students in 19 area high schools, 10 community colleges, and over 50 four-year colleges and universities in San Francisco’s North Bay and beyond.
