10,000 Degrees at National Conference

10,000 Degrees staff – Tania Requenes, a College Advisor at College of Marin, and Claudia Campos, a dedicated Fellow based at Contra Costa College – traveled to Los Angeles for the national convention for College Access/Success organizations serving Latinx students. Their presentation, “Best Practices for Serving Latinx Students Attending Community College” received rave reviews!

Explaining Financial Aid Award Letters

Congratulations! You just received a financial aid letter in the mail! …now what? In April, college-bound seniors at San Rafael High School attended a timely and critically important 10,000 Degrees workshop, “How to Read Your Financial Aid Award Letter,” to help provide specific insight and information into the many types of financial aid awards, loans, and often complicated repayment options.

Local Students Meet Acclaimed Authors

10,000 Degrees Fellows recently facilitated the Sonoma Valley Authors Festival “Students Day” hosted primarily at Sonoma Valley High School. Approximately 2,700 students participated in this full-day “mini-festival” featuring acclaimed authors, including U.S. Astronaut Captain Scott Kelly and R.J. Palacio, author of the award-winning Wonder. Participating students received FREE books!

Joining Forces for Students in San Francisco

10,000 Degrees College Access and Success staff have begun meetings with the Meritus College Fund student support team in anticipation of the San Francisco-based scholarship and college success nonprofit officially joining forces with 10,000 Degrees on July 1, 2018. “10,000 Degrees staff, partners, donors, and Board are thrilled to team up with Meritus,” says Kim Mazzuca. Read more…
