What is Calfresh?

  • Calfresh is a government-funded program that helps assist low-income individuals and families who meet federal income eligibility for health and nutritious food.

Qualifications:

  • Be a US Citizen, Permanent Residents, U or T visa holder, Refugees, or Asylees
  • Currently living off-campus without a meal plan
  • Be a student
    • Between ages 18-49
    • Enrolled at least half-time

If you are a student, meet at least one of these qualifications

  • Works at least 20 hours per week
  • Eligible for Work-Study
  • Award TANF funded Cal Grant A or B
  • Full-time student with a child age 6-11 without adequate child care and receiving CalWORKs benefits
  • Enrolled in CalFresh employment and training or another job training program accepted by CalFresh

Eligible CalFresh Employment and Training Programs

  • Educational Opportunity Program (EOP)
  • Cooperative Agencies Resource for Education (CARE) Program
  • Guardian Scholar Program
  • Foster Youth Success Initiative (FYSI)

Required Documentation

  • A copy of your ID
  • Proof of any income (financial aid award letter, Paystubs, or paychecks)
  • Proof of immigration status (for non-citizens)
  • Proof of student status
