Teacher Scholarships

The Marin Retired Teachers Association Scholarship was established by several Marin County retired teachers to assist Marin County High School graduates pursuing Fifth-Year Teaching Credentials (or Master’s degrees in Education).

  • Students must be graduates of a Marin County high school.
  • Students must be actively pursuing Fifth-Year Teaching Credentials (or Master’s degrees in Education).
  • Students must maintain a minimum college GPA of 2.0.

The Building Better Teachers Scholarship supports early care and education (ECE) teachers continuing their college coursework in early development and education to earn a Bachelor’s degree and beyond.

  • Students must have lived in the Bay Area for at least one year.
  • Students must be enrolled in an ECE degree program intending to pursue a career with children zero to five (pre-kindergarten).
  • Students may be taking community college courses related to early childhood education with plans to transfer to a four-year college to complete a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Students must maintain a minimum college GPA of 2.0.
  • Students from low- to moderate-income backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

NOTE: If eligible, you are required to complete and file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) before applying for the Building Better Teachers Scholarship. The FAFSA is available at studentaid.gov. If you are not eligible to file the FAFSA, you must fill out the California Dream Act application, if eligible. The California Dream Act application is available at www.caldreamact.org

In addition, you will need your financial information along with your parents’ financial information (tax returns from previous two years, W-2’s, etc.) to complete the application for the Building Better Teachers Scholarship.
