15 Sep 10,000 Degrees Partners with Shop2Care
10,000 Degrees is thrilled to announce that it has been selected as an inaugural “cause partner” by Shop2Care, a new not-for-profit online charitable shopping program. Through Shop2Care, online shoppers can select causes to receive a rebate on their purchases from participating retailers, including Amazon.com, Nordstrom, Expedia, Best Buy, and many others. According to its founder, Mark Asofsky, Shop2Care chose 10,000 Degrees as a partner based on its strong collaborative programming, proven community track record, and high social return on investment.
The Shop2Care Foundation also chose to become a sponsor of the 2014 Hotbed gala, which was hosted by the Drever Family Foundation and benefited 10,000 Degrees. Through this donation and the ongoing partnership, Shop2Care is helping underserved students in the North Bay whose college dreams are supported by 10,000 Degrees. The nationally recognized 10,000 Degrees Institute prepares high school juniors and seniors from low-income families for the college and financial aid application process and the college experience. It does this through its Summer Intensive, six-day dormitory experience on a college campus, as well as college advising and mentoring throughout high school.
Shop2Care anticipates that 10,000 Degrees will be the recipient of thousands of dollars of future donations from Shop2Care members who will direct their retailer rebates generated from online shopping to support educational access.
Kim Mazzuca, 10,000 Degrees President and CEO, states, “We have created an unstoppable movement to ensure that every student has the chance to earn a college degree. When you choose to support 10,000 Degrees, you become part of that movement.”
Dedicated philanthropist and Shop2Care founder, Mark Asofsky, adds, “Shop2Care donates consumers’ retailer rebates, when directed by members to do so, to nonprofit agencies that create significant impact on specific areas of need in the United States. We believe that 10,000 Degrees will be a strong cause partner, helping Shop2Care powerfully and positively impact the issue of educational access.”
Shop2Care’s partnership with 10,000 Degrees is described in more detail on the Shop2Care website, at www.shop2care.org in the ‘Cause’ section under ‘Education’.
